Long story short
Sami and Luca grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same schools, and even played for the same football (soccer, for the Americans) club. Nevertheless, they didn’t cross paths until much later.
Fast forward: they graduated high school, Luca was playing in England, Sami was playing in Pensacola, and summers back home meant pickup games with mutual friends. That’s where they finally met. Nothing dramatic happened—no instant sparks. In fact, both were positive the other wasn’t interested. Two summers came and went like this. Then, in the third summer, on a random night out with the pickup group, Sami’s sister Alex saw them laughing together and asked Luca, “So… what about Sami?” His response: “WHAT? No way.” Three minutes later, he was at the bar, bobbing his head to the music, asking Sami what she was drinking. So unoriginal, but it worked.
After that night, they never really stopped talking. They spent a year getting to know each other through time zone differences and spotty FaceTime calls before finally ending up in the same place. They then spent two lovely years together in the states, where Luca proposed in Sami’s grandmother’s backyard. And now here we are—so excited to celebrate with all of you, and see how poorly you dance after a couple drinks.
